Silampos Grand Hotel
Grand Hotel
Grand Hotel is Silampos’ professional cookware line, built for the demands of a working kitchen. Made in Portugal, used in restaurants and serious home kitchens alike.
A (home) chef’s line
Developed for the HORECA trade and chosen by chefs who need a robust, dependable line in many sizes.
High-grade steel for hygiene, corrosion resistance and a finish that lasts through years of daily service.
An encapsulated thermal base that stores heat and spreads it evenly, so food cooks through without hot spots.
Works on gas, electric, ceramic and induction, and goes from cooktop to oven.

How the base is built
The heart of a Silampos pan is its base. The Impact Disc Plus thermal base is a sandwich construction: a heat-spreading core is pressed and sealed between layers of stainless steel and bonded to the body of the pan under high pressure. The core soaks up heat from the hob and passes it across the whole cooking surface, while the outer steel layers slow it from escaping. The result is even cooking, fewer hot spots and noticeably less energy needed to keep food at temperature.

Even heat. The thermal core spreads heat across the full base, so sauces and stocks sit at a steady temperature without scorching in the centre.
Heat retention. Once hot, the base holds its temperature, which lets you cook on a lower setting and keep food warm with the heat off.
Energy saving. Because the base does the work, you rarely need a hob on full. Silampos builds its whole range around this efficiency, backed by its ISO 50001 energy certification.
Long guarantee. Silampos backs the Impact Disc Plus thermal base with a 25-year manufacturer guarantee against manufacturing defects under normal use.
Why 18/10 stainless steel
18/10 refers to the alloy: around 18 percent chromium for corrosion resistance and 10 percent nickel for shine and durability. It is the grade professional kitchens trust because it stands up to constant use, high heat and frequent washing without pitting or staining.
Hygienic. A non-porous surface in direct contact with food, easy to clean and free of coatings that can wear or flake.
Corrosion resistant. The chromium content protects against rust and the acids in everyday cooking, so the steel keeps its finish.
Durable. No non-stick layer to scratch or replace. With basic care these pans are built to last for decades of service.
Made in Portugal
Designed and manufactured by Silampos at Cesar, near Oliveira de Azemeis, where the company has made stainless steel cookware since 1951.
What is in the line
Grand Hotel is a modular working line rather than a fixed set. You build the batterie you need, one piece and one size at a time, and the matching lids fit across the range.
High casseroles. Tall, straight-sided pots for stews, sauces, boiling and braising, in a wide ladder of diameters.
Low casseroles. Shallower pans for reducing, sauteing and dishes that need a broad surface and quick evaporation.
Stockpots. Large-capacity pots for stock, soup and pasta in quantity, sized for batch cooking and service.
Lids. Stainless steel lids sized to match each body, so you can cover, simmer and stack cleanly on the pass.
Silampos, a Portuguese institution
Silampos was founded in 1951 in Cesar, in the municipality of Oliveira de Azemeis in northern Portugal. In the 1960s it produced the first pressure cooker made in Portugal, a product that brought the company nationwide recognition and set the direction for everything that followed.
From 1978 the company specialised in stainless steel cookware, and the founding Campos family invested steadily in technology and capacity. In 1993 Silampos brought in the Impact Disc Plus system that still defines its thermal base today, and in 1996 it certified its quality system to ISO 9001.
In 2004 Silampos moved into the hotel and restaurant market with a dedicated stainless steel collection built for industrial use. That step is the origin of the catering range the Grand Hotel line belongs to: cookware designed from the start to survive a professional kitchen.
Today Silampos is the market leader in Portugal and exports to more than 50 countries. It is one of the few metallic cookware makers in the world, and the first in Portugal, to hold ISO 14001 environmental certification, and it added ISO 50001 energy management certification in 2015. The pans are still designed and made in Portugal, and the company has been recognised repeatedly for both design and innovation.
Getting the best from it
Start on medium. Let the thermal base warm up on a medium setting rather than full heat. It reaches and holds temperature on its own, which is where the energy saving comes from.
Lower as you go. Once contents are hot or simmering, turn the heat down. The base keeps the temperature steady, and you can finish gentle dishes with the hob off.
Avoid empty overheating. Do not leave an empty pan on a high flame. Heating dry can discolour the steel and is hard on any cookware.
Easy cleaning. Stainless steel is dishwasher safe. For stubborn marks or a rainbow tint, a stainless steel cleaner brings the shine straight back.
