Scanpan Pro IQ - Danish craftsmanship with Stratanium nonstick

The Pro IQ series is one of Scanpan's most complete nonstick ranges: a combination of a heavy cast aluminium body, the patented Stratanium nonstick coating and a clean Scandinavian design. It is cookware built to perform daily for years - and suitable for all heat sources, including induction.

Scanpan was founded in 1956 in Ryomgaard, Denmark, and grew into one of the most respected Scandinavian cookware manufacturers in the world. All nonstick aluminium products are still made in Denmark - hand-cast under high pressure, from recycled aluminium. The Pro IQ series embodies that philosophy: sustainably produced, functionally designed and uncompromising in quality.

The body: squeeze-cast recycled aluminium

The Pro IQ pans have a body of squeeze-cast recycled aluminium. In this casting technique the aluminium is pressed into the mould under high pressure, producing an exceptionally dense, sturdy and uniform structure.

Even heat distribution - Aluminium is an excellent heat conductor. The dense cast structure eliminates hot spots, so food cooks, browns and sears evenly across the entire base.
Dimensionally stable - The heavy cast body will not warp, blister or peel, even with intensive use at high temperatures.
Sustainably produced - The use of recycled aluminium aligns with Scanpan's sustainability philosophy.
Induction capable - The base features a special steel disc integrated into the body via a particular casting technique, allowing the pan to work on all heat sources, including induction.

The nonstick coating: Stratanium

The heart of the Pro IQ series is the Stratanium nonstick coating - the patented nonstick system Scanpan built from the ground up over more than two years of research and development, in collaboration with leading Danish and international chefs.

Layered construction

Stratanium is a multi-layer nonstick system in which hard particles and wave-like layers interlock to reinforce the nonstick layer. This layered, interlocking structure gives Stratanium considerably higher durability - up to 50% more durable than Scanpan's previous nonstick coating. The surface will not warp, blister or peel.

Performance

Stratanium is designed to do more than just prevent sticking. The surface browns, sears, deglazes and reduces sauces - cooking techniques that are difficult with many traditional nonstick pans. At the same time the excellent release allows cooking with little or no oil, for a healthier preparation. The coating is metal-utensil safe: you can use silicone, wood, nylon and metal spatulas without damaging it.

PFAS and safety

Stratanium is made without PFOA and PFOS, but does contain PTFE - the base compound that provides the nonstick release. Public health authorities in Europe and the USA (including the FDA, ANSES and EFSA) have determined that PTFE is inert, safe to use in food preparation and does not chemically react with food, water or cleaning products. PTFE only begins to break down under extreme overheating; under normal use it is completely safe. Therefore avoid overheating an empty pan.

Design and use

The Pro IQ series has the characteristic cool Scandinavian design: softly curved stainless steel handles and a glass lid with a steel rim. The cast handles stay cooler for longer during cooking.

Oven-safe to 260°C - The pans are oven-safe up to 260°C (500°F); the tempered glass lids are also oven-safe.
All heat sources - Suitable for gas, electric, ceramic, halogen, solid plate and induction.
All utensils - Suitable for silicone, wood, nylon and metal utensils.
Dishwasher safe - The pans are dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended to keep the nonstick coating in optimal condition for as long as possible.

Care

✅ Preferably hand-wash with warm water and a soft sponge. Although dishwasher safe, hand washing extends the life of the nonstick coating.
✅ Let the pan cool before cleaning. Rinsing a hot pan under cold water can cause warping over time.
✅ Use moderate to medium-high temperatures. Nonstick pans do not need extreme heat; the aluminium's excellent conductivity does the work.
✅ Never heat a nonstick pan empty. This can damage the coating and overheat the PTFE.
✅ Metal utensils are permitted, but soft materials (silicone, wood, nylon) are gentlest on the coating.
⚠️ If pitting, holes or peeling appear: stop using the pan. A damaged nonstick coating no longer performs properly and should be replaced.
